Capturing a Short Life
Capturing a Short Life looks to be a beautiful, difficult film about pictures . . . and the experience of documenting the shortest of lives as perinatal photographers. The trailer is emotionally intense. Parents blurt out the most painful of observations . . . one dad tells his young son that their new baby won’t be coming home. These are ethical dilemmas in the raw, where they are actually lived out. I have not yet seen the entire dvd, I don’t know what all the ethical dilemmas presented will turn out to be – nor how they are treated – though it promises to be life-affirming. I can say that if anyone wants to vicariously walk alongside families in these moments – this will surely be a good place to learn what some of them face. You can watch the trailer and read stories here. And if you are not yet familiar with Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep or The American Child Photographers Charity Guild, then why not take a few moments to visit their websites?
