Shriners likely to close several hospitals

June 8, 2009

art_aldridge_family_af CNNCNN reports the sad news that up to six Shriners Hospitals may be closing. These hopsitals provide state-of-the-art care for children with a variety of conditions, including skeletal dysplasia,  limb difference, and spina bifida. Families can receive services for free, regardless of income. Unfortunately, with the economy as it is, Shriners investment funds are not able to support all of their centers. This will be a significant loss to so many families, including some BNA moms.  Praying they can work something out. The CNN story features a family that has benefitted from Shriners Hospital for two generations: a father with limb differences received medical care there now brings his daughter, who also has limb differences. See the story here.
